Gershwin’s An American in Paris leads a vibrant season finale, brimming with jazz-inflected color and Parisian flair. Soprano Karen Slack takes center stage in the West Coast premiere of African Queens, honoring the strength and spirit of seven historic African queens. The program is rounded out by Jennifer Higdon’s blue cathedral and Ravel’s La Valse, a swirling dance of mounting intensity.
