Long Yu Conducts Rachmaninoff

Conductor Long Yu, “the most powerful figure in China’s classical music scene” (The New York Times), bridges Eastern and Western musical worlds. Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy captures the passion and drama of Shakespeare's tragic tale. Pianist Serena Wang performs Qigang Chen’s shimmering Er Huang, music inspired by childhood memory that swells to passionate heights and dissolves into a meditative finale. Rachmaninoff’s magnificent final work—written in exile—is a bittersweet dance of yearning and unforgettable melody.
