PSYE Auditions 2026-27
Auditions for the PSYE 2026-27 season open on March 4!
The deadline for submitting audition applications is May 1, 2026.
Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles is pleased to be using Acceptd for the 2026-07 audition season.
Your application, audition video, and application fee must be submitted via Acceptd by Friday, May 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.
Please click below to start your application:
To start the PSYE audition application, you will need to create an Acceptd account. If you already have one, you can start a new application using your existing account. Once you create an Acceptd account, you will be able to begin the PSYE application by selecting the ensemble for which you are applying and your instrument. You may save your progress at any time. We encourage you to allow enough time to upload the required components and review the entire application to ensure you are presenting your best effort in your application.
Submit the following through Acceptd:
- Application and fee ($45)
- Audition video (Requirements, Guidelines & Tips)
- A scanned copy of your solo for the adjudicators
- A headshot (This doesn’t have to be fancy—just a phone picture of your smiling face!)
- Solo - Please prepare one solo of your choice that best demonstrates your playing ability. Solos should be a 1½- to 2-minute selection performed without an accompanist.
- Required Excerpts – You will be expected to prepare all excerpts assigned to your instrument by Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles.
A few notes…
-
If you are auditioning on an auxiliary instrument (e.g. piccolo, English horn, etc.), please select the auxiliary instrument on your primary instrument’s application. The excerpt packet for your primary instrument includes additional required excerpts for the auxiliary instrument that should be included in your audition video.
-
Multiple applications will be accepted only from students auditioning on more than one instrument and from students entering 9th grade auditioning for more than one ensemble (see note below).
-
Students entering 9th grade are eligible for all PSYE ensembles that include their instrument. If you would like to be considered for an ensemble for grades 6-9 and an ensemble for grades 9-12 (i.e., Youth Orchestra and Santiago Strings, or Youth Wind Ensemble and Youth Concert Band), you will need to complete two separate applications, prepare two sets of excerpts, and submit two different audition videos.
-
If you are auditioning on an instrument that is in both Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble and Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, you may audition for only one of the two ensembles. If a position in either ensemble goes unfilled, consideration will be given to students who auditioned on that instrument for the other ensemble. On the application you will be asked if you would like to be considered should this situation arise and, if so, to briefly explain your interest in your first-choice and second-choice ensemble. All placement decisions will be based on audition scores and personnel needs for each ensemble. You will receive only one notification of audition results.
Please feel free to contact a PSYE staff member with any questions or concerns.
