Griffin Cutaiar
Bass Trombone
Originally from Ellicott City, Maryland, bass trombonist Griffin Cutaiar was appointed bass trombone of the Pacific Symphony in March 2026. He previously served as acting bass trombone of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra during the 2024–25 and 2025–26 seasons.
Cutaiar earned his bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School, where he studied with Blair Bollinger, and later completed a Graduate Diploma at Juilliard under the instruction of John Rojak. His other teachers include Ken Wolff and Randall Campora.
He has spent summers in Colorado as a fellow at both the Colorado College Summer Music Festival and the National Repertory Orchestra. Cutaiar can be heard on the Juilliard Trombone Choir’s album Holiday Classics, directed by Joseph Alessi.
