Trombonist, composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist Hiram Sebastian Rodriguez is known for his versatility as well as his enthusiasm for all genres of music. As an instrumentalist, Hiram has been recognized for his expression, engaging programming, and musical creativity.
Hiram graduated from his Bachelor’s Degree at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music in 2020 and his Master’s Degree from UCLA in 2022. An active orchestral musician prior to his position as Principal Trombonist of the Pacific Symphony, Hiram is also a tenured musician as Principal Trombonist of the New West Symphony, Second Trombonist of the Modesto Symphony, and Principal Trombonist of the Bakersfield Symphony. Hiram also performs regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Nashville Symphony, Santa Barbara Symphony, and Fresno Philharmonic.
During his time in school, Hiram was also the recipient of full ride scholarships to the Alessi Seminar Asia in 2019 as well as the Aspen Music Festival in 2022 and 2023. He was also the winner of the concerto competition at Aspen in 2022 where he performed Nino Rota’s Trombone Concerto with the Aspen Conducting Academy.
Alongside his work as an experienced classical trombonist, Hiram is a composer and songwriter with various works for string quartets, wind quintets, mixed ensembles, and orchestra. He is currently finishing his first album, HSR, to be released in the summer of 2026.
Other than music, Hiram enjoys reading, writing, watching film, and playing whatever video games he has time for!
