David Parmeter
Bass
David Parmeter began studying double bass at age 20 at the University of California, Los Angeles after having already played the cello for 10 years. Focusing on classical as well as jazz studies, he won numerous scholarships and awards before graduating cum laude with a B.A. in Double Bass Performance and Music Composition in 1993. After serving a year as principal bass of the Young Musicians' Foundation Debut Orchestra, Parmeter won a position with Pacific Symphony, of which he has been a member since 1995. International performances include festival appearances in Spoleto, Italy and Paris, France as well as tours through Germany, Austria and Switzerland. More locally, he appears during the summer as the principal bassist of Festival Mozaic (formerly the Mozart Festival) in San Luis Obispo, CA. Parmeter now resides in Glendale, CA with his family and regularly performs with Pacific Symphony and various other ensembles, as well as on several motion picture soundtracks.
