A tax provision passed in 2006 was extended through 2013: the Pension Protection Act of 2006 contains the Charitable IRA Rollover Provision. Now you can take advantage of Pre-tax dollars to make a charitable gift to Pacific Symphony to benefit the Symphony and our nationally acclaimed education programs like Class Act.
To take advantage of this provision:
- You must be at least 70 1/2 years old
- You can donate up to $100,000 per year.
- Act now to make a gift through this direct IRA roll-over that is tax-free and not reported as income to you. To make a gift for 2013, action is needed by December 31st.
When I realized that I had to take a mandatory distribution from my IRA in 2007, I was pleased to learn that I could make contributions to charitable causes that were important to me and avoid paying any tax on the distribution through the IRA Charitable Rollover Provision! All I needed to do was notify my IRA holder, give them the charity's information and the amount I wished to have sent to them. It was that easy! This strategy enabled me to increase my support significantly to both the Pacific Symphony and the Pacific Chorale, and—most importantly—allowed me to make a special gift to support the drive to complete the beautiful new concert organ in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.Vina Williams, Board of Counselors & Board Member, Pacific Symphony
