Carnegie Hall Debut - Recap

On April 21, 2018 the Pacific Symphony performed their debut concert on the Carnegie Hall stage in New York City. Pacific Symphony musicians took the stage with the Pacific Chorale. Carl St.Clair lead the way and Anoushka Shankar gave an exemplarily performance on the Sitar as the Symphony's guest artist.

We're taking a look back at some of the incredible venues we've been able to perform in, including the Wuxi Poly Grand Theater, during our 5-city China Tour in 2018.

RAVEL: Piano Concerto in G with Alain Lefèvre (Feb. 4-6, 2020)

Returning pianist and longtime friend of Carl St.Clair and Pacific Symphony, Alain Lefèvre performs the Presto from Ravel's exquisite, jazzy Piano Concerto in G Major.

ALAIN LEFEVRE: "Grand Carnaval" (Feb. 4-6, 2020)

Alain Lefèvre plays one of his own compositions as an encore.

BERLIOZ: "Symphonie Fantastique" (Feb. 4-6, 2020)

Carl St.Clair conducts the fourth movement, the dramatic "March to the Scaffold."

Followed by the fifth and final movement: "Songe d'une nuit du sabbat" (Dream of a Witches Sabbath).

BACH: Violin Sonata No. 3 with Clara-Jumi Kang (Jan. 2020)

Clara-Jumi Kang performed the third movement (Largo) from Bach's Violin Sonata No. 3 for her encore, after performing Beethoven's Violin Concerto.

BEETHOVEN: Violin Concerto with Clara-Jumi Kang (Jan. 2020)

Clara-Jumi Kang performs the Rondo from Beethoven's Violin Concerto, guest conducted by Christian Arming.

DVOŘÁK: Symphony No. 8 (Jan. 2020)

Christian Arming conducts Pacific Symphony the third movement, the Allegretto grazioso, Molto vivace of Dvořák's Symphony No. 8. 

RAVEL: Boléro (Sept. 2018)

In this never-before-seen Concert Highlight, Pacific Symphony performs an exerpt from Ravel's iconic one-movement piece, "Boléro" to cap off the Opening Weekend of the 2018-19 Classical season.

PROKOFIEV: Piano Concerto No. 3 (Dec. 2019)

Relive Vadym Kholodenko's performance of Prokofiev's Third Piano Concerto in C Major, Op. 26 as he plays the third movement, Allegro ma non troppo.

BEETHOVEN: Symphony No. 7 (Dec. 2019)

Pacific Symphony plays the exciting Allegro con brio, the fourth and final movement of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony. 

FRANK TICHELI: "Shooting Stars" (Sept. 2018)

This previously unreleased Concert Highlight features Frank Ticheli's "Shooting Stars," with which Pacific Symphony opened its 40th anniversary season.

GERSHWIN: Rhapsody (Nov. 2019)

Aaron Diehl is absolutely stunning! With our extra camera angle we were able to get real close to his unique fingerings on the keys. Alongside Pacific Symphony and conductor Mei-Ann Chen, the entire night was filled with upbeat music and amazing musicianship.

Ticheli: "Rest"

Tchaikovsky: "Pathétique" Symphony (Oct. 2019)

Orff: "Carmina Burana" - Sept. 2019

Pacific Chorale joins Pacific Symphony in the finale chorus, "O Fortuna (Reprise)" of Carl Orff's oratorio, "Carmina Burana."

Pablo Villegas Plays "Tico-Tico no Fubá" (May, 2019)

Pablo Villegas absolutely stunned our audiences during the aptly titled concert, Villegas: Master of Guitar. Have a look at this amazing display of musicality as he plays "Tico-Tico no Fubá" as an encore.

Michael Daugherty: "To the New World - II. One Small Step"

Pacific Symphony, under the direction of guest conductor Jean-Marie Zeitouni, premiered Michael Daugherty's "To the New World." on Aprl 11-13, 2019. The piece was composed in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing.

Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 4 (March 21-23, 2019)

Here's a highlight from the 2018-19 season featuring the opening movement, Allegro vivace, from Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4, “Italian.”

Music Director Carl St.Clair conducts "Danse of the Floreadores/ Waltz of the Flowers," a jazzy rendition of the Tchaikovsky classic by Ellington & Strayhorn!

Dvořák: Symphony No. 8 (Jan. 16-18, 2020)
