Assistant Principal Preliminaries are tentatively scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM. Finals are immediately following the Preliminary rounds. Section viola, Chair 10 Preliminaries and Finals will follow the Assistant Principal finals, late afternoon to evening. Times are subject to change and the need for multiple preliminary rounds depends on the number of candidates auditioning. Candidates may audition for one or both positions. Those auditioning for both will play in the morning preliminaries.

VP of Marketing and Public Relations

Pacific Symphony is seeking an entrepreneurial, innovative leader to drive earned income through ticket sales and customer service operations, and to oversee branding, marketing, communications, and public relations.

Reporting to the President, and collaborating closely with the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President is an integral part of the senior management team. The Vice President will manage and shape a best-in-class marketing function capable of supporting the Symphony's marketing, sales, communications and public relations needs into the future. In partnership with the Executive Vice President and Vice President of Development, the Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations will help to lead an institutional goal of maximizing total household participation and revenue through coordinated communication, recognition and patron engagement tactics.

Overseeing a staff of eight marketing and two public relations professionals, the Vice President makes an indispensible contribution to the overall success of the Symphony.

Pacific Coast Wine Festival Manager

Pacific Symphony is looking to contract with a charismatic, detail-oriented individual with an extensive knowledge of fine wine to join our dynamic Special Events team in producing the fourth annual Pacific Coast Wine Festival. This is a part-time (average 20 hrs/wk), contract position reporting to the Director of Special Events. The Pacific Coast Wine Festival Manager will form and maintain relationships with key wineries, wine makers, chefs, and industry executives.

The Pacific Coast Wine Festival has become one of the three major fundraising events for Pacific Symphony and one of the most respected wine auctions in California. The sold-out event, held in Newport Beach, features an unmatched lineup of tasting wines from multiple countries. Pacific Coast Wine Festival raised more than $140,000 to support Pacific Symphony’s artistic and award-winning education programs.

PR and Publications Assistant

The PR and Publications Assistant provides support to the Director of Public Relations. Key duties and responsibilities include coordinating and preparation for the production of program books; coordination of Classical 91.5 KUSC live broadcasts; managing PR archives; photo resources; communications calendar and guest artist biography files. Involvement in social media is an important part of this job. An aptitude for learning required. Attendance at concerts and symphony events as assigned, preparation of media kits, some media communications, and other marketing duties, as required. This position requires strong written and verbal communication and proof-reading skills, the ability to work to deadlines and effectively multi-task. Some knowledge/appreciation of classical music and interest in a career in the non-profit arts highly regarded. Some experience in Photoshop and web content management required.

Internships

The Pacific Symphony offers internships for students interested in a career in a non-profit arts organization. Interns will be exposed to the many facets of the administrative office responsible for the operation of the organization and should come away with an understanding of how the non-profit arts world operates. Internships are often available in the following areas:

  • Education
  • Finance
  • Marketing
  • Public Relations
  • Special Events

Interns must demonstrate strong computer skills, strong written and oral skills, organization skills, and the ability to perform multiple tasks with attention to detail. They must maintain a professional attitude and be able to interface successfully with a variety of personalities.

Internships are unpaid and require a minimum of 10 hours a week (scheduling is flexible) during regular office hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.). The Pacific Symphony is located in Orange County, California and does not provide housing, transportation, or relocation costs. Assignments will be based on the interest and qualifications of the intern and the needs of each individual department.

Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles Operations Assistant Internship

The Operations Assistant Intern is responsible for the execution of library work for the Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, tracking and management of all absences from rehearsal, entry of data when needed, assisting the Manager during PSYO concerts at the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall as well as for their run out concert at Laguna Woods, overseeing two Sunday rehearsals a month (including set up and break down of rehearsals), assisting the manager for Classical Connections days where the Youth Orchestra attends the Symphony concert and rehearses at the Concert Hall afterwards.

Education and Community Programs Intern

The Education and Community Programs Department is looking for 2-3 interns to assist with its many programs, concerts and events.
