OC Can You Play?

At Pacific Symphony, all we do is play.

We want you to play, too! This year, we continue a large-scale initiative geared toward engaging the community in the verbs of music: playing, singing, discussing, writing, and listening.

OC CAN YOU SING? – In March 2011, Pacific Symphony presented an amateur singing contest, where participants submitted videos of themselves singing for a chance to perform onstage with Pacific Symphony. Amateur singers from Orange County and Greater L.A. will have another chance to earn a place on stage in the 2nd presentation of OC Can You Sing? Finalists will perform with Pacific Symphony in a Pops concert featuring Kenny G on February 14, 15, & 16, 2013. Applications start October 1, 2012.

Our 2012 OC Can You Play With Us? event was a hit that it will continue for a third year of fun in 2013! Amateur musicians have the chance to rehearse and perform side-by-side Pacific Symphony, conducted by our very own Maestro Carl St.Clair.

Don't miss a once-in-a-lifetime experience for YOU to perform onstage with Pacific Symphony. This year's side-by-side takes place on April 8 and 9, 2013 with excerpts from Shostakovich Symphony No. 5. Registration opens Feb. 1 and spots will go fast!

In January 2011, we launched the events with a public pianos project — OC CAN YOU PLAY? — in which 20 colorfully painted pianos were placed throughout Orange County for all to enjoy. Many stopped by to hammer out their favorite old tune, or even create their own Piano Event at one of the pianos.
